While buzzwords like New Ruralism and Green Urbanism are only now becoming
part of the developer’s daily vocabulary, the principles behind
them are ones that Stonehaus has long believed in and supported through
conscientious development.
Designs in New Ruralism ensure that Albemarle and the surrounding counties
will remain among the best places to live in rural America. Our designs
for rural land development preserve the character of the land through
appropriate placement of built form and respect for the natural condition
of the terrain, so that new residents can enjoy the pleasures of life
in an authentic rural setting.
Our practice of Green Urbanism seeks to minimize the ecological impact
of Stonehaus communities. Through smart design, we can improve natural
resource consumption and improve the connection between ourselves and
the environment in an urban setting.
We aim to create places with vitality where people look forward
to connecting with their community—the nature, the built form, and
the people that live there.
